Abstract

In December 2024, North Kalimantan Province experienced a year-on-year (y-o-y) inflation of 1.29 percent with a Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 105.72. The highest inflation occurred in Tarakan City at 1.60 percent with a CPI of 104.98, while the lowest inflation was in Tanjung Selor at 0.40 percent with a CPI of 105.18.

  • The y-o-y inflation in North Kalimantan Province was driven by price increases, reflected in the rise of expenditure group indices, including: the food, beverages, and tobacco group by 1.56 percent; the clothing and footwear group by 4.54 percent; the health group by 0.77 percent; the transportation group by 0.05 percent; the education group by 0.30 percent; the food and beverage/restaurants group by 2.81 percent; and the personal care and other services group by 5.38 percent. Meanwhile, the groups experiencing a decrease in index were: the housing, water, electricity, and household fuel group by 0.44 percent; the household equipment, tools, and routine maintenance group by 0.02 percent; the information, communication, and financial services group by 0.15 percent; and the recreation, sports, and culture group by 0.07 percent.
  • In December, North Kalimantan Province recorded a month-to-month (m-o-m) inflation of 0.44 percent and a year-to-date (y-t-d) inflation of 1.29 percent.
