Abstract

In March 2024, the level of inequality in population expenditure as measured by the Gini Ratio was recorded at 0.264. This figure decreased by 0.013 points when compared to the Gini Ratio in March 2023.

The Gini Ratio in urban areas in March 2024 was recorded at 0.258; down compared to the Gini Ratio in March 2023 which was 0.274.

The Gini Ratio in rural areas in March 2024 was recorded at 0.273; an increase compared to the Gini Ratio in March 2023 which was 0.270.

Based on the World Bank's measure of inequality, the expenditure distribution of the bottom 40 percent of the population will be 24.26 percent in March 2024. This means that population expenditure is still in the low inequality level category. If broken down by region, in urban areas the figure was recorded at 24.58 percent and in rural areas it was recorded at 23.80 percent, which means it is classified as low inequality.
