In May 2020, total commodity exports through ports in Kalimantan Utara Province reached US $ 62.20 million, a decrease of 7.60 percent compared to the conditions in April 2020 which reached US $ 67.31 million. The export value for the January – May 2020 period reached US $ 418.99 million, a decrease of 2.18 percent compared to January – May 2020.
The decline in exports in May 2020 compared to April 2020 was caused by a decrease in exports of non-oil and gas goods in the mining sector by 13.94 percent.
The value of imports of Kalimantan Utara Province in May 2020 reached US $ 3.35 million or an increase compared to imports in April 2020. When compared with the January-May 2019 period, the value of imports of Kalimantan Utara Province in the January-May 2020 period decreased by 41.16 percent.
The import value of Kalimantan Utara Province in May 2020 was dominated by non-oil commodity commodities, mainly industrial products.
The trade balance of Kalimantan Utara Province in May 2020 was a surplus of US $ 58.85 million, an increase of 12.57 percent when compared to the trade balance in April 2020 which was a surplus of US $ 67.31 million.
